The Essential McLaren Vale Wine Experience

With so many great options to choose from over such a vast area, there’s a world of opportunity on your own private McLaren Vale wine tour. With our years of touring expertise and a great understanding of all the wineries in the region, we’ve created the perfectly flexible McLaren Vale itinerary for any wine enthusiast.

As a region with a strong focus on sustainability, your first stop of the day will be at Yangarra Estate – an award-winning estate grown winery who grows organic and biodynamic grapes. Next, it’s off to the laissez-faire and relaxed vibe of Samuel’s Gorge. Without the pomp and ceremony of a usual wine tasting, you’ll really be able to relax and soak up the atmosphere as you sink into their Mediterranean inspired wines.

An icon of the region, visit the d’Arenberg Cube where you’ll admire their inspiring architectural tasting-room masterpiece and taste from a wide range of wines. Your itinerary would not be complete without a long lunch at The Salopian, famed for their organic kitchen garden and faultless seasonal menu.

With your professional wine guide by your side the day can be edited on the fly with ease to suit your particular interests. We always try to tweak the itinerary to make it uniquely your own. Truly luxury touring at its’ best!

As we climb over the Clarendon Hills the rolling green landscape opens up before us to the Blewett Springs subregion. Stopping at Yangarra Estate, you’ll thry through their range of wines grown on their biodynamically farmed estate. Located on a high plateau with sandy soils it has a much cooler climate to the rest of McLaren Vale.

3   Samuels Gorge

With an idyllic location perched on the hillside overlooking the Onkaparinga Gorge, you’ll feel a million miles away from anywhere. The team at Samuels Gorge focus on sourcing their fruit from select coastal locations across the Vale and trying to let that fruit shine through with their wines. You’ll taste from a range of classic and Mediterranean varietial wines, ideally suited to this coastal wine region.

Seasonal dining at The Salopian, one of McLaren Vale's finest restaurants

Operating out of a repurposed homestead built in 1851 and surrounded by McLaren Vale vineyard is one of South Australia’s favourite restaurants – The Salopian. Here you’ll enjoy a seasonal feast sourced primarily from their own organic garden wherever possible. Taste the flavours that define the region and have made this one of South Australia’s best regional restaurants (all dietaries catered for).
